Laser3D is part of the Stratco group, a dynamic, national leader in the manufacture and marketing of building and home improvement products. With an outstanding record of continual growth, Stratco has manufacturing plants and Home Improvement Stores in all mainland states of Australia and several international locations.
We are seeking a professional and experienced Estimator/Designer with a strong customer service focus, to join our team in Gepps Cross. This full-time role involves the development and enhancement of 2D drawings and 3D models to support our quoting process, as well as liaising with customers to ensure seamless order flow and maintain high standards of customer service. This role requires an understanding of design for manufacture and the ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings in order to create drawings and workflows for manufacture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review customer drawings, assess suitability for manufacture
- Develop, maintain and modify 2D & 3D CAD drawings
- Prepare quotes for laser cutting, folding and welding
- Investigate and resolve customer enquiries and complaints, escalating where necessary
- Process customer orders via email
- Develop and maintain relationships with customer purchasing contacts.
- Collaborate with production staff to resolve special requirements and manufacturability issues
- Maintain customer drawing databases, ensuring proper version control
- Assist with production duties on the shopfloor as required
Skills, Experience and Attributes:
- ESSENTIAL – Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- ESSENTIAL – Experience in dealing with customers and building lasting professional relationships via phone
- ESSENTIAL – Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software.
- DESIRABLE – SolidWorks experience preferred
- Proven experience in a similar Estimator/Designer role
- Sheetmetal experience or familiarity with sheet metal type will be advantageous
- Ability to work collaboratively with production teams and customers
- Excellent organisational skills, with a focus on detail and accuracy
